Two Contrasting Events: II The North Yorkshire Cub Scout Rally


The North Yorkshire Scouts are holding the biennial rally at Pateley Bridge Showground.  Over 800 cub scouts are gathered until tomorrow evening, and having a fabulous time.  Shan and I could not resist the temptation to join in the fun, as well as discuss plans with area leaders.

Two Contrasting Events: I The Richmond Meet



The Richmond Meet is a very dignified affair.  We were joined by Mayors of Gateshead, Darlington, Stockton, Northallerton, Tadcaster and, of course, Richmond.  There were also Senior elected members from Selby District and Richmondshire.  But why a "Meet"?  It was all explained when we met Maurice Bartle with his comprehensive collection of vintage cycles.  Since the 1890's cyclists have been congregating from all over the region for regular 'Meets', and the Richmond Meet is one of the oldest

Our first appointment was the Pateley Bridge Civic Service. Here we are, on the way home on the 24 Bus
